Tsotang co-holds the Chair. She has an LL.B. from the National University of Lesotho, an LL.M from the University of Cambridge, and a Ph.D. from the University of Cape Town. She is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law, where she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses that are related to international economic law.  She is also a Research Associate at the UCT Centre for Comparative Law in Africa and a Senior Research Associate at the Nelson UCT Mandela School of Public Governance.

She is Vice President of the African International Economic Law Network (AfIELN) and a member of the editorial board of the African Journal of International Economic Law (AfJIEL). Her research interests include trade facilitation, trade in services, and gender and trade in the context of SACU, SADC, the AfCFTA and the WTO.

  • Annual Conference

    The Chair hosts a conference on an annual basis under a different and pertinent theme. In 2022 the theme was “The Right to Development and the Operationalization of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.” The sub-themes included:
    1. Intra-African Trade and the Prospects for Poverty Eradication;
    2. The Roel of Foreign Direct Investment in the Development of Africa;

  • Research Seminar

    The NUL WTO Chair hosted a research seminar on October 18, 2022. It considered the nexus between industrialization and economic growth and development in the context of Lesotho.
